So I had a great weekend, and in Detroit of all places. I had reservations about driving the 10 hours from my home for a full day seminar produced by the company I am closely affiliated with and currently is generating my most sustainable growth and income. Those doubts were kicked aside by the end of Saturday and I walked away with a renewed sense of direction and plan of attack to build my wealth with this company.
Not only did I come away with a renewed excitement about possibilities, but realized how resilient , proud and capable the People of Detroit are and how one day Detroit could become a national symbol of what it means to “bootstrap your way back to prosperity”. Great City with some blemishes but hey we all have had a few pimples on our ass, right? Go Detroit!
WineLabels.com has been in my possession since May 2000, it has been a great purchase from the secondary market since day one. In the last few years while parked or with simple affiliate links it has always produce a small but steady income. When it was really leveraged in in 2000-2002 it produce many tens of thousands of dollars in commissions, when I actively sold DTC wine. It had always been the plan to build a substantial site around the name and it’s existing traffic but always second guessed myself regarding what the site’s focus should be.
Alas, the ADD curse, “Squirrel!”
There are several areas where WineLabels.com could be leveraged, I successfully used it to generate leads interested in buying custom label wine for events, gifting and weddings, and later to sell just the wine labels (DUH!) for consumers to self apply on their own homemade or gift wines. Commercial wine label printing ( a multi-million dollar industry by itself) would be an obvious niche or I imagined WineLabels.com could be the basis for a visual showcase or shop for wine brands and an e-commerce mechanism. These uses are the low hanging fruit and just the web based ideas, there are probably dozens more niches or app based uses for the domain and traffic.
SEO for this domain has always been easy as it is a exact match domain, lots of searches for the term, compared your PPC traffic costing an average of $2.02 per click and higher during the Holiday Season, the 400 to 1000 unique visitors per month are pretty valuable. I am also offering WineLabels.net as part of the sales package, a Two for One. I also have a few other domains I have collected in the same wine label / custom wine niche that I might include to sweeten the pot.
So to just lay it out there, I am selling WineLabels.com and am moving on to my next business which is very exciting to me. I will be contacting all the folks who made offers on the domain previously and will be broadcasting this sale through many outlets over the next few days. This will be the perfect name with traffic that someone who loves the wine business will be able to build a fantastic business around.
